CAT Tracks for September 23, 2012 CAIRO DEMOLITION...UPDATE

Things are really moving along!

This past week, demolition was completed at the old Ford Garage/Relax Inn site.

I've already posted pictures of the Relax Inn under the heading of Counting Cranes. The link below provides some before and after pictures of the Ford Garage (located at 2nd Street, between Sycamore and Commercial.)

I posted pictures of other sites about a month ago, including the beginning demolition of the old Rhodes Burford furniture store.

Here's where it "stands" today:

And, not to be denied...

...other cranes are gobbling up houses throughout the city.

This past week, three houses became empty lots in the area of 34th Street between Sycamore and Elm.

The newspaper article indicated that 50 properties would be demolished and cleared by the end of October. From the looks of things, they will meet their goal!
